The Nuclearization of North Korea has been considered a threat to the US and its Asian allies for decades. Struggling to make progress on the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict, just as all other US Administrations have, the Trump Administration has pivoted to the elusive North Korea threat. It is also an issue all US President attempt to address. Unlike past US Presidents, Donald Trump has accepted an invitation by Pyongyang to meet with the leader of North Korean. Given President Trump’s relationship with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un started with condemnation then quickly devolved into a series of offensive exchanges that threatened to spark a nuclear conflict, the ability of the two leaders to meet with each other and commit themselves to the denuclearization of the Korea Peninsula offers the appearance of massive success.

Job openings at the end of January in the United States reached 6.3 million according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. The rapidly shrinking gap between available jobs and the number of individuals seeking jobs could easily lead to a labor deficit. At the very least, the competition for workers is intensifying with the tightening of the labor supply. For some businesses, it is an issue of too few bodies. For others, it is an issue of too few qualified candidates. Increasingly, it is an issue of more and more employees willing to accept more favorable employment elsewhere. No matter what specific reason an employer faces a labor deficit, however, employers must automate, scale back their operations, risk overloading their current workers, or find ways to maintain and expand their payroll. All employers need to make themselves more attractive in an economy favorable to job seekers.
The US Secretary of State is one of the most important positions in the US government for a variety of reasons. Not only is the Secretary of State the top US diplomat, he is the representative of the US President to the world. Most nations and international governing institutions have their own US diplomat, but the Secretary of State is both a messenger and adviser with direct access to the President. Those in the position of Secretary of State are also seen as serious contenders for the Presidency. Grooming an individual for a Presidential run will often start with an appointment to the State Department’s highest office. Consequently, the sudden departure of Secretary Rex Tillerson and nomination of Koch brothers loyalist Mike Pompeo has far reaching implications that go beyond the future of US politics and diplomacy.
Donald Trump the businessman spent decades building a management team comprised mostly of relatives and close associates to run the Trump Organization. Although Mr. Trump tends to boast of his success, the success of his business empire is actually the success of his management team and the teams within the Trump Organization. Despite the difficulty of dealing with his controversial outbursts, his chaotic approach to management, and his reactionary leadership style, the people within his leadership team learned to tap each others’ strengths and compensate for each others’ weaknesses in order to function. It was Trump’s embrace of team leadership that allowed him, his children, and his business associates to thrive.
Political leadership has been missing in Washington, across the US, on the international stage, and in the capitals of most nations around the world. This lack of leadership has become increasingly evident over the past decade or so. There has also been a lack of leadership in the business world, which undermines the work environment, integrity, ingenuity, and longevity of companies everywhere. This is no more apparent than when there is a crisis or some other stressful situation. Above all, leadership is about solving problems. Leadership is about serving others in order to help them succeed in their roles. Leadership, therefore, means leaders take responsibility when problems arise by taking lead on the problem solving process.
